Call-Up Parenteau Shoots Rangers A Win

Posted by: Jordan M. Alpert

Every win is a good win.  And this was no exception.  Lots of good to take away from the game.  It was a road win.  Lundqvist was solid.  Great penalty kills (including a short-handed goal to tie the game and 1:23 to close OT).  Higgins looked respectable in the middle.  The team was better on faceoffs, at least in the key moments.  And the Rangers came through in the clutch in their first shootout of the year.

P.A. Parenteau was a spark from the get-go.  He just seems to have a nose for offense (even though he missed a wide open net in the third).  At the most important moment of the game, he scored on a nifty move/shot in the 6th round of the shootout.   Do we really need Voros each game?  How about keeping the offensive guy on the 4th line?

There was some bad too of course.  Staal skated through the game as if it was a loop with his girlfriend.  (Hopefully it’s the flu, or just one random bad game.)  The first unit power play was lackadaisical most of the game.  We gave up way too many odd-man rushes, again.  And we took some dumb penalties, again (Kotalik most notably).

Still, it was a win.  And all wins are 2 points.
