Redden's Back

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m happy Redden is back tonight.  He’s actually been solid this year.  Not $6.5 million solid, but good enough that he’s an upgrade over the rookie fill-ins.  (Who, incidentally, played fine and give us hope for the future.)  We need his experience against  the Blackhawks tonight, who probably are the best team in the NHL.  Kane Toews, Keith, Hossa (when healthy), etc.  They are scary good. 

And scary young.  Sather should watch this game closely.  For how they have built a top squad through the draft, preemptive long-term contracts locking in young players well below the annual salaries they could get if they hit free agency, and good free agent signings (assuming health).  Kind of like what the Indians started in the late ’90s.  They won a World Series.  And what the Penguins did recently.  They won a Stanley Cup.  Just saying…
