Drury Snubbed As U.S. Captain?

by Olympics

Jamie Langenbrunner of the Devils was named captain of the U.S. Olympic team.  Can’t argue with that, though Drury would have been a fine choice.  What I am perplexed by is Drury NOT being named as one of the FOUR alternate captains.  (The players chosen are Zach Parise of the Devils, Brian Rafalski of the Red Wings, Ryan Suter of the Predators, and Dustin Brown of the Kings.)  Knowing Drury (not that I actually know him), he will say nothing of this and use it as incentive to play even harder.  His leadership will still be there.  But for a guy that’s had a down season and is on the tail end of his career, it would seem that naming him at least an assistant captain would be best way to maximize his worth to the U.S. squad.  Strange.
