Welcome to the Rangers Olli.

Rangers Finally Rise To The Occasion, Down Heartless Pens

Now that’s a hockey game!!!  Finally, a full 60-minute effort.  But why does it take two top players going down to injury and a chicken-sh-t move by Cooke to force Drury to fight to energize us?  We should be playing with that much heart all the time.  The Pens played like AHL Hershey and still put the fear of god in me.  Granted, it could be their immense talent level, so you never feel safe against any line — #3 center Jordan Staal would unquestionably be our #1 center.  It could be that the Rangers fail in close games at the same rate they won them last year under Renney.  Or it could be that our D was so exhausted having to play without DZ (suffered a “significant laceration”) and Rozsival for 10 minutes, who got a misconduct after peeling Cooke off of a defenseless Drury (what happened to the unwritten code of not punching a guy once the fighter drops to the ice?  Bush-league all-around by Cooke.  It was clean hit.  Man up.)  Staal played a Herculean 28:02, and as usual, most of those minutes were against the opposing team’s top line(s).  Even Torts coached a great game, keeping his cool when he could have blown it at times.

Was going to stick this in the next section, but it’s too good.  Dubinsky was asked after the second intermission what he thought of Crosby twice whacking him on the hands after a faceoff with mere seconds left in the period.  Both times with the linesman, but no ref, looking.  In completely un-Dubinsky fashion (he’s usually a cliche only boring interview), he called the NHL’s poster-boy out as “a baby sometimes.”  I wish I could find the video, cause his face was priceless.  I loved it!  And hated it, cause Crosby is one dude you do not want to make angry.

Random Other Notes:  Anisimov needs to skate with his head up.  He got obliterated, for like the 10th time this season…Callahan was a beast…Rozsival has quietly played very well the last few weeks…Orpiks may not look a defenseman, but he plays like an Olympic champion…What’s up with trading a conditional 6th-round pick for a washed up enforcer who makes more than Prust (who’s actually playing well)?  Both are UFAs after this season too.  Makes no sense.  Someone explain it to me.
