If you haven’t seen or heard about it yet, the Rangers are running a contest via Twitter and SMS subscriptions. Me, personally, I get Rangers updates to my phone and so they’ve been texting subscribers NYR trivia that is more than likely above the average fan’s knowledge. They text you a question with four options and you respond with number correlating to the answer you believe is correct. So far, I’ve gotten both right without cheating.
The first question had to do with what Ranger that played in the 2009-2010 season tried out for the Rangers in 1997 camp. The answer was Jody Shelley.
This week it was “Which NYR goaltender, who played in the 09-10 season was the lowest overall draft pick @ #205 in his draft year?” Choices being, Alex Auld, Henrik Lundqvist, and Chad Johnson.
This one, to me, the average fan should know. And no, I will not tell you the answer to help you cheat. You cheater.
If you have the correct answer you get entered to win a Rangers Gift Bag this week and also entered to win the month’s grand prize, a signed Gaborik hockey stick. Pretty cool for a organization that rarely gives anything to the fans besides hope, excitement, and an awesome salute after every win. Even still, I like this new approach by the team.
