Finally, the schedule was announced earlier this afternoon, and the beginning of the season looks very enticing. The NHL season officially begins October 7th, which to me seems a little later than normal, and the Rangers officially begin Saturday October 9th in Buffalo against the Sabres.  Only two days later we play the Fish Sticks… err, Islanders for a quick rivalry game in Nassau’s Falling Apart Coliseum. After that win, we have our first home against the Maple Leafs as I announced yesterday.

Some notes about the schedule:

  • Nov. 1 – The Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks will come to MSG
Side note: Jonathan Toews will be on EA Sports’ NHL 11 cover this year
  • Our last 3 games of the season are all home – very nice!
  • Nov. 20 – Marian Gaborik returns to Minnesota to play against his former team, the Wild, for the first time since joining the Rangers
  • Jan. 30, 2011 – NHL All-Star Game in Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Schedule against Islanders:
    • Oct. 11 @ NYI
    • Dec. 2 @ NYI
    • Dec. 3 vs NYI
    • Dec. 27 vs NYI
    • Mar. 15 vs NYI
    • Mar. 31 @ NYI
  • Schedule against Devils:
    • Oct. 24 vs NJD
    • Nov. 5 @ NJD
    • Dec. 29 @ NJD
    • Feb. 5 vs NJD
    • Feb. 18 @ NJD
    • Apr. 9 vs NJD (last game of Rangers’ season)
