Phew, now that all of that business is over, we can relax… just kidding.
For all of you that don’t know, Glen Sather is having trouble signing Marc Staal and Dan Girardi. On Staal:
Sather chuckled as he described how close the parties are to a deal: “I wouldn’t say it’s a wide gap; it’s more like a chasm.
This worries me, especially after we just dealt Sanguinetti so easily. I absolutely love Marc Staal and would be a very angry and devastated Ranger fan (wouldn’t be the first or last time) if we were to not keep Staal. He’s been without a doubt our best defender that we have on the roster and a key cog for our future.
At the same time, Girardi is looking for a deal somewhere around $3 million for 4 years. I’d like to give Staal the 4 year and Girardi the 3 year, and I’d like them to total somewhere between $6-7 total. We’ll see if that happens, Thursday the 1st is approaching rapidly.
Sather came out and finally said what I already said, they want to get a sturdy back up goalie to take the load off of King Henrik. Look for the answer to be a non-expensive signing sometime on Thursday or soon after. It’s not a priority at the immediate moment so don’t expect the acquisition to be on Thursday.
Some more awesome news, I finally just watched the NHL 11 trailer that premiered at E3 (the biggest video game conference of the year). And the game looks amazing. I loved NHL 10, but personally I had lots of bugs where my Be A GM modes would tweak out after a season or even in the first season and I couldn’t play any more. The new game looks outstanding and as I mentioned before, Conn Smyth Award Winner, Gold Medal Winner, and Stanley Cup Champion Jonathan Toews will be on the cover. Some year for him huh?
Want to check out the trailer. Well you’re welcome.
Am I the only one that does NOT want us to trade for Sheldon Souray? I don’t care if he’s cheaper than Michal Rozsival or Wade Redden, he’s just a slightly (emphasis on the SLIGHTLY) cheaper version of them. Not a fan. Tell me what you think.
