On Thursday, the Greenville Road Warriors announced their affiliation agreement with the New York Rangers and the Hartford Wolf Pack. The Road Warriors are starting their inaugural year with the East Coast Hockey League in Greenville, South Carolina.

Not exactly a new team, the league relocated the Johnston Chiefs to Greenville to play in the BI-LO Center. The Chiefs have been in the ECHL since 1988. Their colors will be Midnight Blue, Copper, White, and Silver. The Road Warriors will compete in South Division of the Eastern Conference, same as the Checkers.

The Charlotte Checkers, our previous ECHL affiliation, if you didn’t already know, has become the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes. The owner of the Checkers bought the previous Albany River Rats and absorbed the team. The Checkers then moved to the AHL, became the affiliate of the ‘Canes, and revamped their logo/uniforms.

Hopefully, we will see players from the Road Warriors moving back and forth to the Wolf Pack and the Rangers.
