For all you video game addicts, EA Sports (It’s in the game!) has released the demo for NHL 11 on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
All you have to do is go to your Playstation Network Store or Xbox Live account and download the demo.
Like last year’s demo, they have the Battle For The Cup mode where you play 1 period of play. This is a good way to see how the physics engine has changed when it comes to gameplay, and boy has it. EA Sports changed a lot when it comes to general physics of the game. Skating, movement, hits, everything that deals with movement has basically been upgraded to a more realistic feel. The hits engine is crazy on its own. Each hit is different and exciting. EA has been doing that with their sports games lately making them more realistic than ever. Madden 11 is the same way. Realism is a big part of video games today. The arcade-feel of the video game genre has disappeared and made way for a more authentic feel. Most people are happy about this, thus the sales continuously rising, and I for one am loving it.
The other mode they have in the demo is Hockey Ultimate Team. The HUT demo will give you a starter pack of cards that allows you to play through an offline tournament. At each stage of the tournament, you’ll be playing the third period. Survive and advance; lose and start over from the beginning. Though the demo HUT team will not carry over, you can earn up to two free packs of cards for the main game – by inviting a friend to the demo, and then either playing the demo or winning the HUT tournament in the demo (but not both). This sounds a little like cards Madden use to have. Have to wait til the game comes out to really know.
I am thoroughly excited about the NHL 11 release and can’t wait to play Be a GM mode.
