New Faces For 2nd Devils Game; First Cuts

Unfortunately, since I’ve had no time lately, I’m writing this during the 1st period (It’s 2-1 NJD).

After the first game, all we want to see is more of Derek Stepan. Well sorry to tell you my fellow Broadway faithful, but he’s not suiting up for this game. Here is the list of tonight’s lines against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center:

Ruslan Fedotenko – Todd White – Ryan Callahan
Dane Byers – Artem Anisimov – Evgeny Grachev
Sean Avery – Tim Kennedy – Jeremy Williams
Derek Boogaard – Kris Newbury – Dale Weise

Michael Del Zotto – Steve Eminger
Alexei Semenov – Pavel Valentenko
Garnet Exelby –  Matt Gilroy

Lundqvist is in net.

Kennedy, Boogeyman, and Semenov are the only players who played in the first game that are starting tonight as well.

I’m extremely excited to see Grachev play tonight who’s wearing #59. I’d love for him to show us his stuff all season this year, but he’s first got to prove that he’s capable. Speaking of Russians, we have 4 of them going tonight with two paired with two others (AA with Grachev and Semenov with Valentenko).

I’d like to add how much I hate listening to the extremely bias Doc and Chico.

Is anyone with me in that they hope Semenov, Exelby, and Fedotenko break some bones or just play terrible enough to get cut? Do we really need (or even want) them?

According to the puckcentral blog here are the first cuts that were made yesterday.

“According to Andrew Gross, the Rangers first cuts were made today. In total, 25 players were returned to either their Junior team or sent to the AHL.

The following players are being sent to Hartford:
Goalies: Parise, Talbot
Defense: Baldwin,Klassen, Kundratek, Niemi, Parlett, N. Williams
Forwards: Chappell, DiDiomete, Dupont, Garlock, McKelvie, Soryal, Tessier

The following are being returned to their Junior teams:
Goalie: Stajcer
Defense: Maggio, McIlrath
Forwards: Bourque, Horak, McNaught, Thomas, Werek, Wilson, Yogan

According to Scotty Hockey “Brodie Dupont has to go through waivers, perhaps another NHL team will give him a shot.”

There are now 38 players remaining at training camp. That includes 3 goaltenders, 13 defensemen and 22 forwards.

I’m excited Michael Sauer was not sent down as he’s having a strong camp and played well the first game as well. I think this is a put up or shut up year for him and he has a lot of talent ahead of him, so it will be interesting to see how this pans out.
