According to Cap Geek, the Rangers have made the decision to sign goaltending prospect Scott Stajcer to an entry-level contract. After Werek, what the Rangers were going to do with Stajcer was definitely the most interesting prospect situation.
Stajcer was very good during the OHL’s regular season… in the games he did play. He was a force in the playoffs for Owen Sound up until the finals, where he had a few bad games and ultimately lost his starting spot. That, combined with the injury concerns and the speculated interest in Vikot Fasth made it appear that the Rangers were not going to sign Stajcer. However, it seems that the Rangers are sold on his potential. When the guy was on his game he was among the best in the CHL. The signing should also likely signal the end of Chad Johnson’s tenure with the Rangers, as the team now has Talbot, Missiaen, and now Stajcer signed.
Here is our article from the beginning of May where we break Stajcer down and debate whether he should be signed or not.
