Cause Of Death For Derek Boogaard Ruled Accidental

Tweeted by Katie Strang as well as others, According to the Medical Examiner in charge of Derek Boogaard’s autopsy has ruled the cause of death was due to alcohol and oxycodone toxicity in his blood.

This should put to rest anyone who felt his concussion issues this season were related to his sudden death. It does bring a sense of closure to Boogaard’s family and loved ones now knowing exactly what cause his death. However, it does bring in the question how exactly does this happen accidentally? Mixing painkillers and alcohol is very dangeruous and is clearly warned against on labels.

Keep in mind I am not trying to illicit any negative thoughts I am merely thinking out loud. It’s still a terrible way to die and the thoughts and prayers should still be with the Boogaard family as they continue to deal with their loss.

It really is. The big fella had some demons to deal with. It’s just a shame it lead to his death despite him seeking help for it.
