If Kings Sign Richards, Should Rangers Give Doughty An Offer Sheet?

This is how I would imagine Brooks suggesting to Torts his idea. (www.trickfist.com)

Larry Brooks has been awfully busy person on the first day of free agency. Earlier today, the Rangers beat writer tweeted a suggestion that has much of the media world buzzing.

Join me after the jump to find out exactly what it is.

Here’s the tweet from Brooks himself:

If I’m NYR I have Doughty offer sheet ready to go 1 minute after Kings sign Richards.

Whether he’s being serious or not, it does make you think of what could be if that scenario should unfold. It’s plausable; Los Angeles wouldn’t have enough space to match and the Rangers would have to surrender several draft picks if LA didn’t match. Plus, one of the core Rangers defenseman would have to be traded (for a center since you would be losing out on Richards) to make room. But, you would have a budding superstar on defense for years to come in Drew Doughty.

It’s an interesting thought, just don’t expect it to happen.

LOL, I just love that idea. That would add even more depth to blue line and Rangers will be in good position to trade somebody (by somebody I mean Girardi) for a good forward.

It’s not a bad suggestion. It does make a lot of sense but I’m not sure it ever comes to fruition.
