Rangers Send Brodie Dupont to Predators for Andreas Thuresson

The Rangers have added multiple Swedish prospects to the organization this summer, with Andreas Thuresson being the most recent (Getty Images).

And here’s the move you’ve all been waiting for! The Rangers have sent prospect Brodie Dupont to the Nashville Predators in exchange for right winger Andreas Thuresson. Dupont was a 3rd round pick of the Rangers in 2005. Thuresson a 5th round pick of the Predators in 2007.

Dupont was a solid player for the Rangers in the AHl but he just simpy was never going to get true shot with the Rangers. With Nashville losing multiple wingers already, perhaps Dupont has a chance of making the team this Fall.

Thuresson has some potential to be a bottom 6 forward in the NHL. at 6’1 and 212 pounds he’s relatively big, and he plays a physical game as well. If he can show some offensive skill in the AHL this year he’ll likely get an opportunity or two as an injury replacement. Ultimately, both players are very similar, and this trade was most likely a change-of-scenery move.
