In relation to his August 5th arrest for battery of a police officer at his home in Los Angeles, it has this morning been reported that Rangers left-wing Sean Avery will face no charges over the incident.
Law enforcement were quoted by TMZ – yeah, those guys – as saying:
No criminal charges of any kind will be filed against Sean Avery stemming from his August 5 arrest for battery on a police officer.
Avery was alleged to have “shoved” the officer after he responded to a noise complaint call at the formers home in the Hollywood Hills, though further investigation has apparently revealed that no officer was ever actually pushed.
Knee-jerk reactions and assumptions aside, it’s relieving to see Avery cleared of any charges before further damage could be done to his name. He is expected to attend an informal meeting with the LA City Attorney before being officially cleared and the case closed.
