BREAKING: Plane Carrying KHL's Lokomotiv Team Crashed In Russia


Tragedy continues to befall the hockey world, now being experienced nearly half a world away. A charter flight out of Yaroslav carrying a majority of the members of the Lokomotiv hockey team crashed on takeoff in Russia with three people surviving. There were 37 people on board.

Reports indicated the plane broke in to two pieces, one falling into nearby water and the other on the ground.

For anyone wondering, these are the former NHLers on the Lokomotiv roster: Alexander Vasyunov, former Devil & Ranger Karel Rachunek, Pavol Demitra, Karlis Skrastins, Ruslan Salei, Josef Vasicek. The head coach of Lokomotiv is former NHL defenseman Brad McCrimmon.

Blue Line Station extends its thoughts and prayers to all the families involved. The hockey world cries again.

Editor Update: Alexander Karpovtsev, who was a Ranger from 1993-1998 and was a member of the 1994 Stanley Cup team, was an assistant coach for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv and has also passed away.
