With the start of the Traverse City prospects tournament just hours away, everyone is more anxious than often to watch some organized hockey. And with the tournament being televised for the first time, it only adds to the excitement of seeing your favorite prospects play.
Let’s take a look at some line combinations and defensive pairings that were utilized during the final scrimmage that could possibly be used tonight in the Rangers’ first game against St. Louis.

The tournament is seeing an expanded roster for the first time so it’s very possible you’ll see more line juggling that would make even John Tortorella say “Damn, that’s a bit much.”
You’re obvious choices to keep an eye on are the McIlraths, the Erixons, the Thomas’ and the Hagelins of the world. But my eyes will be focused on how J.T Miller responds in this tournament. He’s already shown growth since being drafted by the Rangers this summer and a good tournament will only aid in his development.
Some others to keep an eye on:
- Shane McColgan
- Blake Parlett
- Andrew Yogan
- Michael St. Croix
Sounds like Ryan Bourque will be named captain of the Rangers’ prospects teams, which couldn’t make me happier. Not the flashiest player, but he plays with heart, grit, and determination. I’m sure he will do a fine job leading his team.
