Despite losing 4-3 in double overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Baby Blueshirts had already wrapped up a spot in the championship game and will be facing the Buffalo Sabres to see which team boasts the best set of youngsters.
Biased not withstanding, I still feel the young Rangers have as good a chance as any to claim gold tonight. The majority of the team has displayed a solid work ethic with others standing out. Tim Erixon looks as advertised and will make for excellent competition come training camp. The game is 7:00 PM tonight so make sure you all tune in!

Blogging colleague Kevin DeLury was able to sniff out a rumor of the HBO crews beginning their filming of the Rangers for 24/7 today. [NYR Blog]

In his 30 thoughts article, Elliot Friedman informs us of a certain tactic the Rangers used in persuading Mike Rupp to sign with the Rangers. I got to say, it’s pretty awesome (and shrewd) how the Rangers did this. [CBC Sports]
Michael Gleich assures the cynics that despite being snuffed for a letter, Brandon Dubinsky will be a leader no matter what. [Bleeding All Blue]
Not directly Rangers-related, but there’s buzz this morning the Islanders are close to signing franchise center John Tavares long-term. Give the Islanders credit for assembling, and locking up, their good, young core. Shame on them for not solidifying themselves on Long island for the foreseeable future. [Newsday]
Blueshirts United has a quote from Brad Richards on skating with Marian Gaborik. They also have a picture of Richards rocking his newly acquired “A” on his Rangers sweater. Looks phenomenal if you ask me. [Blueshirts United]
Prospect guru Jess Rubenstein is very critical (and rightfully so) of some of the Rangers’ prospects in their performance again Carolina yesterday afternoon. So much so that Jess claims it’s the reason why some of them don’t have a future with the organization. [Prospect Park]
The Suit thinks the NHL needs a brand new poster boy to represent the NHL. To that I say I couldn’t agree more. Hockey has enough time cashing in on marketing their sport to the casual fan. Any gains in that area would be tremendous. [Blue Seat Blogs]
