Monday Morning (PP) Quarterback: Recapping November 4-6

Two games, two wins, and a pair of strong performance by both goaltenders over the weekend. The Rangers are rolling folks. Sure, some wins (San Jose, Montreal) have been collectively more impressive than others (Winnipeg) lately, but the Rangers are getting results and that’s what matters at this juncture.

Derek Stepan and Marian Gaborik’s chemistry continues to blossom, while Marty Biron is once again providing the kind of goaltending the Rangers need in order to confidently rest Henrik Lundqvist. Newly-signed former Blue Jackets defenseman Anton Stralman will eventually provide an extra body on the blueline as Dan Girardi and Ryan McDonagh continue to log the best part of 30 minutes TOI each night – Not that it seems to be doing McD any harm at all.

So, with a four-game win-streak in the books and a host of different players donning The Broadway Hat, let’s take a look at some of the weekend’s best Ranger reads…

Blueshirts United has a video piece up on Mark Messier’s run at the New York City Marathon yesterday. Messier finished the course in 4-hours-14-minutes, following in the footsteps of Mike Richter and Adam Graves in running the NYC Marathon. Congrats Mark. [Blueshirts United]

Nick Montemagno writes that Sean Avery needs to concentrate on the simple things as he beds his way back in to the Rangers line-up following a brief stint with the CT Whale in the AHL. [Rangers Tribune]

Joe Fortunato takes a more in-depth look at the growing chemistry between Marian Gaborik and Derek Stepan over at Blueshirt Banter, taking a look at more than just the numbers. [Blueshirt Banter]

Jess Rubenstein wraps the Rangers prospects action over at The Prospect Park as JT Miller continues his hot run with the Plymouth Whalers. Christian Thomas missed game six of his 10-game suspension while Dylan McIlrath missed his fourth game of five with an “upper body injury”. [Prospect Park]

Michael Gleich analyses the continued all-round improvements made by Artem Anisimov this season. Despite a slow start to the season, much like initial line-mates Brandon Dubinsky and Ryan Callahan, Ansimov’s game has steadily improved over the past week or so. [Bleeding All Blue]
