Monday Morning (PP) Quarterback: Recapping November 11-13

After Friday’s impressive 5-1 win over the Hurricanes at MSG, the Rangers sat idle on Saturday and Sunday as the NHL suffered with a Ranger-less weekend.

Positives from Friday’s game? Brandon Dubinsky’s off the mark, the GAS line of Marian Gaborik, Artem Anisimov and Derek Stepan continues to roll despite being kept off the board Friday, and Brad Richards and Ryan Callahan are back on the scoresheet. As for should-be-All-Star Dan Girardi, well, there’s a reason Torts called him “the most underrated defenseman in the league” recently. Tremendous.

The Rangers look to make it seven in a row against the Islanders tomorrow night, but for now let’s recap the weekend’s best Ranger reads…

Jess Rubenstein looks back at the weekends action involving Chris Kreider, JT Miller and Samuel Noreau. Also of note is that Christian Thomas has finished his 10-game suspension and can now return to the Oshawa Generals line-up. [The Prospect Park]

Howlings’ Mitch Beck wraps the CT Whale’s 4-3 loss to the St. John’s IceCaps yesterday, including a pair of blown, two-goal leads in Newfoundland as the Whale suffered back-to-back defeats over the weekend. [Howlings]

Nick Montemagno takes a look at the NHL’s indifference toward the surging Rangers, including Dan Girardi’s All-Star ballot snub and the lack of coverage on despite winning their last six games. That’s right NHL, keep pushing that Crosby ‘comeback’ instead of what’s actually happening right now. [Rangers Tribune]

Kevin Power, as I’m sure most of us do at this stage of the season, believes Marian Gaborik is ascending back to the elite level after a disjointed 2010/11 campaign. And, ironically, he’s not requiring Brad Richards to do so. [Blueshirt Banter]

Bleeding All Blue’s Michael Gleich suggests sitting Brandon Prust through the upcoming light schedule in order to get him healthy. John Tortorella’s admitted over the weekend that Prust has been battling a few niggles, so perhaps resting him is the right move through a reduced workload. [Bleeding All Blue]

Lastly, and though it may not be Ranger-related, The Suit’s breakdown of the 1-3-1 forecheck makes for great reading over at BSB. [Blue Seat Blogs]
