It’s been a rough year for the Rangers both in terms of concussions and Swedish Elite League injuries. Of course we know about Marc Staal’s concussion and Michael Sauer’s recent one. Emerging prospect Jesper Fasth had the misfortune of breaking his foot and could miss the ress of the season. Last night, Rangers prospect Oscar Lindberg was concussed after being hit. While the extent of the injury has not been announced yet, he will not be playing in tomorrow’s game for Skellefteå.
Lindberg was acquired in a trade for Ethan Werek in May and struggled to start the season. However, his play has picked up recently with a goal and two assists in his last five games, and his 7 points in 28 games is a respectable stat line in the Swedish Elite League for someone who just turned 20. Lindberg is somewhat of a forgotten prospect but he is one that is more likely to make the NHL than many others. Because Lindberg’s play has improved recently this is an unfortunate time to receive a concussion. Hopefully he can get back on the ice soon.
