Most of us in the hockey world know the moniker of “Mad Mike” fits former Boston Bruin Mike Milbury to a tee. To his off-color Euro trash comments, the dismantling and subsequent burying of the New York Islanders franchise, and overall lack of common hockey sense, you would think Milbury has done all he could do to embarrass himself.
Apparently, that’s not the case.
Mike Milbury has been charged with assault and battery on a child after a dust up during a pee wee hockey match in Brookline, police said. The former Isles GM was accused of assaulting a 12-year-old youth hockey player at the Jack Kirrane Ice Skating Rink at Larz Anderson Park in Brookline last week on Dec. 9, police said.
It’s one thing to make really dumb comments in order to gain some publicity or to make yourself out “cool” to your hockey peers. It’s a completely different matter to put your hands on a child under ANY circumstances. Milbury deserves not only harsh punishment for his alleged deplorable actions but the scrutiny the social media universe has unleashed towards him. My favorite comes our very own site editor Adam Herman’s Twitter account:
REPORT: Mike Milbury was offered only $5,000 bond, but instead negotiated a deal for $1,000,000 plus a first round pick for his release.
