We Could See Marc Staal Soon (Getty Images)

Staal Takes A Step Towards Returning And Eminger Out 8-10 Weeks

Some good news and bad news today for the Rangers. Let’s start with the bad news. Steve Eminger will be out of the lineup for 8-10 weeks with a separated should. The Rangers obviously saw this coming because they called up Stu Bickel yesterday who is likely to take his spot tomorrow in the lineup. The Rangers also did an emergency recall of Tim Erixon to get an extra defenseman. There is a chance Erixon plays tomorrow because Jeff Woywitka (Suffered ankle injury in the game against the Coyotes) is a game time decision.

Ready for some good news? Marc Staal was doing drills with the team today, and could be cleared for contact by the end of the week “If all goes well”.  Clearly Staal’s return isn’t imminent (although that’d be helpful) but he did take a large step forward. Also, Michael Sauer began light workouts this week but Tortorella says they will still be without him for quite some time.

Very bad news this year for Rangers defenseman so far huh? Be sure to follow me on Twitter @Matt_J1
