New York Rangers 4th round selection Michael St. Croix produced a ridiculous 10 goals and 16 assists in 10 games during the month of December, leading all players in the Western Hockey League. Those totals were more than enough to earn him the Western Hockey League Player Of The Month.

As an 18 year old in a league full of 19 and 20 year olds, it’s a major accomplishment for St. Croix. At one point St. Croix was projected to be a 1st or 2nd round pick but his stock fell once questions arose about other areas of his game. St. Croix still has skeptics but he has definitely improved his play away from the puck and his willingness to battle for pucks and play along the boards. St. Croix is currently 5th in the WHL in scoring this season and while he still has much of his game to work on in order to become an NHL player, early indications are that the Ranges might have gotten a steal with their 4th round pick last June.
