Brandon Dubinsky suffered a shoulder injury in last night’s shootout victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. Immediately after awkwardly getting checked into the boards, Dubinsky left the ice with trainer Jim Ramsay to get his shoulder checked. Everything looked clean and Dubinsky returned to the game. However, Dubinsky woke up feeling sore today and John Tortorella says he is a game-time decision for tomorrow’s matchup against the Senators. If he is unable to go Wojtek Wolski is expected to fill in.
Dubinsky is only day-to-day so it’s not really much of a concern. In both of the last two games Dubinsky has suffered an injury scare but in both he avoided any real damage. Still, I have a hard time believing that a player like Brandon Dubinsky is going to let a sore shoulder prevent him from stepping on the ice. He has over 24 hours to ice it and loosen it up and he’s played under in worse physical condition. I have to imagine that it would need to get worse between now and tomorrow night for him to sit out. Still, it is something to look for. Dubinsky has been one of the best players on the team in the last 7-10 games so losing him tomorrow would not be ideal.
