McDonagh Not Injured From Ference's Dangerous Hit? (UPDATED)

Ryan McDonagh (The Hockey News).

UPDATE: Per NYDN’s Pat Leonard, McDonagh will play tomorrow night.

According to the NHL’s Head of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan, that seems to be the case. In his video explaining Boston Bruins’ defenseman Andrew Ference’s three-game suspension, Shanahan cited, according to the information he recieved, Rangers’ defenseman Ryan McDonagh did not suffer any injuries on the play. A huge sigh of the relief for the team – still down three defenseman including Michael Sauer – and for the fan base.

The Rangers were off yesterday and resume practice later this morning. Any information regarding McDonagh’s status will be released by the team at that point. If McDonagh truly is unscathed following the dangerous board hit that earned Ference a major penalty and game misconduct, then the Rangers should count their blessings as they dodged a major bullet.
