A Lot Of Similarities Between The Giants And Rangers

Ok this obviously a Rangers blog but there are too many similarities between the Giants and Rangers this year. Both teams are very similar in which the way they play and the way they both handle themselves for the games in which they play. Let’s look at a couple similarities.

Exceeding Expectations- At the start of the year no one expected the Giants to win the Super Bowl and some even doubted that they would make the playoffs. While the Rangers were expected to make the playoffs, they definitely were not expected to be first place in the east in the month of February. The Giants definitely exceeded expectations, while the Rangers are currently exceeding them.

Great Coaching- Tortorella and Coughlin have both been around the block, and know what it takes to win in their respective leagues. Both coaches maybe took a bit of criticism from fans during their tenure as coaches, but now both are praised especially Coughlin.

Players Stepping Up- Throughout the season for the Giants they had many players that stepped up, and played beyond expectations. Those guys were Henry Hinoski, Bear Pascoe, Victor Cruz, and Jason Pierre-Paul. The Rangers this year have guys like Carl Hagelin, John Mitchell, Michael Del Zotto, and even Marty Biron, all stepping up and playing their roles perfectly.

The Rangers need to embrace the Giants victory in the Super Bowl. If I’m John Tortorella I would make the team go to the Giants celebration parade (If it doesn’t conflict with any game of course) and watch it. I would say to them “This could be you guys celebrating in June.” But seriously the Rangers should use the Giants victory as some kind of inspiration.

The Rangers seriously have a team to model themselves after even though they play a different sport. The NHL playoffs are way different from the NFL playoffs, but there is one similar thing you need to succeed in both. In football you need a good or ELIte quarterback, and in hockey you need a hot goalie. There is little to no doubt in my mind with enough offense, Henrik Lundqvist can carry the Rangers like Eli Manning carried the Giants.

If the Rangers somehow find a way to win the cup this year I would be more than willing to die a happy man.
