Should the Rangers acquire Rick Nash a young, talented forward would almost definitely have to go the other way, and Brandon Dubinsky is perhaps the most obvious, if not likely trade piece that fits that mold. And thus he has been a part of speculation and rumors alike.
But Dubinsky doesn’t seem to believe he is going anywhere, or is at least putting on a good poker face.
Brandon Dubinsky: “I’m pretty confident that at 3:01, I will be a New York Ranger”

If there is anyone on the roster who should be concerned for the next few hours it’s Brandon Dubinsky, but I agree with him that his departure seems unlikely. Nothing suggests that a deal for Rick Nash is imminent and there are no other players on the trade radar who Dubinsky could reasonably be moved for. Though Dubinsky is of course a good hockey player who is part of the core, he also should perhaps feel a little bit lucky that the trade market is incredibly weak. In another year he might have been sent packing days ago. Nonetheless, Dubinsky is probably going to remain a Ranger and is exactly the kind of player who can be a difference maker in the playoffs.
