Pavel Datsyuk is one of the most talented offensive players in the NHL, but last night it was a New York Rangers’ center who made the highlight reel on national TV. Brad Richards took the puck from Henrik Lundqvist and sped through the neutral zone behind the Detroit forwards before deking past defensive defenseman Niklas Kronwall and putting the puck through Ty Conklin’s legs.
It was a much needed goal for the Rangers and one that perhaps is the highlight of what has been a fantastic March for Brad Richards. Richards has 6 goals and 9 assists in 12 games so far this month. He has scored three goals on the PP this month after entering March with three PP goals the entire season. Surely this is the Brad Richards we’ve been waiting to see, and let’s hope that the Brad Richards we get in the playoffs is similar.
