Chris Kreider was made available to the media after practice today for the first time since coming to New York and signing his professional contract. He discusses his potential role on the team, the process in which he went from BC student to New York Rangers player in a matter of days, and what his observations were at practice.
He doesn’t say anything completely newsworthy or surprising but it’s good to hear him for the first time. It’s interesting to hear that Kreider planned on signing here all along regardless of how BC did. Although the Rangers gave all indications that this was the plan, other sources weren’t so sure. Based on Kreider’s comments about what he’s been told by the staff I infer that, while he’s definitely not going to be gifted any opportunities to play, the coaching staff is open minded and is not at all opposed to giving him a chance should he prove in practice that he deserves one.
