Henrik Lundqvist And Brad Richards Leading The Way

When the Rangers signed Brad Richards they weren’t exactly signing him to be a good regular season performer but they signed him to be a veteran leader, and be clutch in the playoffs.

Quite frankly, his regular season is a blur to me.

The first thing that pops into my head when I think about Richards is game 6 in Ottawa, game 5 of the Capitals series, and last night’s game 7. Sure his 0.1 second remaining goal is pretty cool, and his game winner at Citizen’s Bank Park is also awesome (not to mention clutch as well), but Richards is playing his best when it matters.

If not for Lundqvist I’d say Richards is the MVP of the team right now, but Lundqvist is  still carrying this team.

Henrik Lundqvist. What more can you say about the guy? He’s always been this good in the playoffs, just the difference is his team is winning these games. He’s still not getting enough scoring from the Rangers, but he’s making due. You knew last night when the Rangers scored two goals that’s all Henrik would need. I even turned to my friend and said “The Caps are going to need to get three by Lundqvist to win. Not happening.” Ah, the beauty of having a great goalie in net.

Brad Richards is doing what he came to New York to do, meanwhile you have Lundqvist being Lundqvist. What a great combination. Together those two guys are the reason the Rangers are heading to the Eastern Conference Finals against New Jersey.
