The New York Rangers have this afternoon announced an agreement of terms with 2010 sixth-round selection Jesper Fasth.
Fasth skated with the Swedish Elite League’s HV71 last season, registering 16 points in 21 regular-season games before an ankle injury sidelined him for four months. He returned during HV71’s playoff push, posting three points in five games as his side were eliminated at the quarter-final stage by Färjestad.
Despite the defeat, Fasth’s game-by-game improvement was noticeable. His speed and tenacity will be a key addition to the AHL’s Connecticut Whale next season, assuming he doesn’t return to Europe for the 2012-13 campaign.
