The Rangers got their coveted piece to the puzzle this offseason, and with that piece the puzzle is complete. The Rangers have talent, depth, defense, and goaltending. All things it takes to win a championship. Plus last year they gathered enough experience to go deep in the playoffs. This isn’t a team that was built seemingly overnight, this is a team that has been in the making for a few years now.
The mindset has to be focused on a championship and not necessarily a regular season. Yes the President’s Trophy is nice but there’s another shiny piece of silver that is much more important. Which is why I wouldn’t be worried if this team isn’t the first seed in the conference again. I think the L.A. Kings just proved to everyone that as long as you have a good team it doesn’t matter what seed you are.
This team isn’t one of those past Rangers teams where you can say this team will be good next year, or two years from now. This team is built to win a championship this year but also be competitive for years to come. I have to also say talking like this makes me hope there is no lost season or missed games.
Be prepared ladies and gentleman because the Rangers are no longer underdogs to win the cup, they are actually among the favorites to win it now.
