Rangers Stocking Up On Great Skaters

There’s been a common theme surrounding the Rangers the last few years and that’s been the skaters that the team have selected in drafts and have gotten through free agency. In today’s NHL it’s imperative to have great skaters because the game today is so fast. Skating ability is something that the Rangers have an abundance of right now and they will definitely need it.

Currently the three best skaters on the Rangers team are Chris Kreider, Marian Gaborik, and Carl Hagelin (Who’s the fastest skater in the league). The other guys who are pretty good are Ryan Callahan and Rick Nash. Arguably the Rangers have the best skating top 6 in the NHL right now. Which is something I think will go a long way.

Brady Skjei was pegged as arguably the best skater at this year’s draft, which I think could be a steal at 28th overall. Even Dylan Mcilrath has improved his skating over the last year. It’s a great sight to behold that the team won’t be a bunch of pylons in the near future.

Speed kills, and the rule changes post lockout have helped teams who skate better than others. The Rangers are catching on to notion that you need players who can skate very well. The last few years Glen Sather and his staff have done it right.
