No Sleep Till' Brooklyn For The Islanders

The Islanders finally solved their arena problems and are set to move to the Barclays Center in 2015. This is good news for the Rangers as they can keep the rivalry with the Islanders going strong, and still have a rivalry with them. We joke around, but did we really want to see the Islanders move to Kansas City? No.

The Islanders have been a good foe over the years, and playing them on Long Island has been no easy task for the Rangers even when though the Islanders have struggled over the years. Yeah the rivalry between the two teams has cooled off in recent years, but with the team now having a closer geographical proximity to the Rangers it can only get more intense. Maybe it will be more intense than the Devils-Rangers rivalry.

If the Islanders build on their young crop of players and are able to attract some free agents to Brooklyn they may become a playoff contender sooner than later. Having the Islanders in Brooklyn, and having them play “competitive hockey” can only help hockey in New York City and the surrounding areas around the city. It will give both the Rangers and Islanders more coverage in the city.
