NHL Decertification. Should We Root For This?

Well as Rangers fans we might root for this. Apparently if the players decertify they can sue to become free agents. This would give teams with deep pockets like the Rangers a huge advantage if it were to happen.

I seriously doubt this would happen though. First things first. If the players decertify the season is gone. The process takes months to sort out in the courts. Not to mention the NHL would probably like to cut a deal before such a thing can happen.

The Rangers would have a shot at signing basically anyone. It’d be like the NBA with superstars ganging up with each other to play together. Think of the Rangers pre 2004 lockout and the huge contracts they gave out, only this time they could try to sign the best players in the league. Apparently there’d also be no draft, so they’d be free to sign the top prospects as well.

One can only dream of such a scenario right?
