Skjei Cut And Miller Not Captain Of Team USA

Brady Skjei was cut yesterday from team USA and will not take part in the World Junior Championships. To be honest I’m not as upset about this. Skjei is still very young and is still a raw product. The offensive side of his game still needs work, and his overall game still needs to become more of a finished product. No doubt in my mind Skjei will make the team next year.

As for J.T. Miller, I don’t see the need to cry about him not being captain of the team either. I’m more concerned with what he does on the ice. Sure being captain of your team and your country is nice, but it’s more of a popularity contest for events like this. Or perhaps he’s not cut out to be a captain which I don’t necessarily care about either. Marian Gaborik isn’t captain material but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t do his job every night. Again, this is nothing to be upset about.
