The Plan For Wade Redden

Larry Brooks reported this morning the Rangers plan on sending Wade Redden home this season to prevent injury. Any injury sustained of course would prevent the Rangers from buying him out this summer.

The Rangers are also apparently open to trading Redden this season and being stuck with a portion of his cap hit. The Rangers would then be able to buy out the portion they are stuck with this summer without penalty to their salary cap.

A few days ago I made a post saying Redden should be given a shot at the lineup. I thought at the time a player could be bought out with the amnesty buyout even if he’s injured. Since that isn’t the case I think this is definitely the right move to make. Be it trade or sending him home. The Rangers can’t afford to take the risk of Redden getting injured.

Hopefully the Rangers make sure he doesn’t run around with scissors or something around his and get injured that way.
