A few days ago the Rangers called up forward Brandon Segal from the Whale in order to play opening night for a suspended Arron Asham.Tortorella though is high on Segal, and wants to see him stick around for a while with the big club.
Segal is actually not that big of a slouch in the league. The 6’2 214 pound winger actually has 102 NHL games under his belt. He has aso been involved in 5 scraps during his time in the league.
I for one hope Segal can make an impression on opening night. The Rangers lack forward depth outside of the lineup and it would be comforting to know there is someone who could fill in a bottom six role if there’s an injury. It’s important for Segal to make the most of his opportunity because he may never get another one this season.
