Rangers Claim A Late Win On The Island

The Rangers left it late to win it in overtime against the Islanders. It was a tough win to claim but the Rangers got it done.

Some thoughts.

  • Henrik Lundqvist was brilliant this game. He kept the Rangers in it all game. No way they win without him.
  • This Rick Nash guy is pretty good, eh? Another 3rd period goal for him as well as an OT assist. 7 shots on goal the big man. Nash is really approaching 2004-08 Jaromir Jagr levels of dominance.
  • Marian Gaborik finally broke his scoring slump. You knew he was going to score eventually tonight. He always scores against the Isles.
  • Was Callahan wearing skates or Air Jordan’s? Tough to tell. He jumped pretty high on that Gaborik goal.
  • Evgeni Nabokov was pretty good tonight. He only had one goal to work with and almost stole one for the Isles.
  • Roman Hamrlik is what we’ve been looking for. He played over 15 minutes and looked pretty comfortable. He isn’t even at full fitness yet, so hopefully he gains some more stamina as the season rolls along. When Staal eventually gets back this team will be set in terms of defenseman.
