Reaction To Marc Staal’s Return

Last night Marc Staal returned to the lineup and played 17 minutes and didn’t register a shot on goal. He also was a -1 on the night. On the surface Staal didn’t have much of an impact, but he brought some stability to the defensive corps. Staal took the spot of Steve Eminger and essentially played better than Eminger last night than Eminger did in the entire series leading up to that. Staal’s going to need at least a few games to get back into the swing of things but for the time being he can at least be trusted to play a few hard minutes a game, and kill a few penalties in the process. Not bad for someone who’s missed the last 29 games. All in all the Rangers need Staal in order to win the Stanley Cup. There’s no way around that. You just hope the Rangers can win this series and that Staal will be back to his normal shutdown self after a few games back. Be sure to follow me on twitter @Bluelinestation.
