3. Rangers versus Flyers

It’s Broadway against Broad Street. The City That Never Sleeps versus the City Of Brotherly Love. With these teams in such close proximity, this rivalry has evolved into one of the most popular in the NHL.

The rivalry hit an apex at the Winter Classic, where the Rangers won 3-2 in an intense thriller. The games never disappoint, they are always physical and intense.

One great example of this is in 2010. New York and Philly played on the last day of the season. Both looking for a playoff spot and both needing a win to get there. The game was 1-1 heading into a shootout. Flyers goalie Brian Boucher stopped Olli Jokinen, and Philly clinched the final playoff spot in the East. I still remember heading to my room balling my eyes out understanding that we just gave up a playoff spot to one of our most hated rivals.

This isn’t just Rangers against Flyers, it is New York v.s. Philadelphia. This is more than hockey. This is for city supremacy.
