Your 2013-14 New York Rangers Everyone

Hope everyone had a happy 4th of July yesterday. I know I did. Anyway, today the Rangers added Dominic Moore, Benoit Pouliot and Aaron Johnson. All of them are all one year deals, which I think is very good. Not that I’m not rooting for them to succeed, but I think they should just be viewed as stopgaps until our prospects come up. You know Oscar Lindberg is going to go for Moore’s spot on the team, and a bunch of guys including Jesper Fast are eyeing Pouliot’s spot. Can’t really say the same for Aaron Johnson because sadly unless there’s injury, he’ll be on press box duty throughout the year.

Sorry if you guys had got your hopes up and wished we signed a big name free agent. Since we didn’t buy out Richards that was never going to be on the cards. But if Sather was stupid enough to sign someone like David Clarkson (Laugh out loud at the Maple Leafs everyone!) the rangers would be looking at offer sheets for McDonagh, Stepan, Hagelin, and Zuccarello.

The band (I’m referring to our restricted free agents) is coming back and is here to stay. This is the team of now, and at least this season. That’s also the way it should be. This team already went through a huge changeover in getting a new coach, and doing anymore than that could be overkill. The Rangers have a good thing going, and I’m glad it’s going to stay that way. Get everyone under contract and see how it goes. The team has plenty to look forward to this coming season, so now it’s just up to the players to perform. We’ve been waiting for our team to be fully assembled for years, and I think it’s finally gotten there. Just sit back and relax fellow Rangers fans and hope for a big shiny trophy at the end of the year.
