As the offseason slowly continues for many hockey fans, we keep you busy with our daily NHL news piece. Keeping you updated on everything that goes on within the league from top to bottom.

Latest News

  • Contract talks between the Rangers and Derek Stepan currently at a stalemate

-This is bad news for Ranger fans. With Stepan being our new #1 center, we want contract talks to go smoothly and quickly as possible. This stalemate means currently there is no agreement, and that is not good for Stepan or the organization.

  • Former Kings forward Dustin Penner signs 1-year deal to return to Anaheim

-Homecoming for Dustin Penner? He left Anaheim after winning the Cup in 2007 to sign an offer sheet with the Oilers. Now, after winning the cup in 2012 and making a run for it in 2013, he heads back to Anaheim. Starting to see the pattern?

  • Preseason schedules are announced league-wide. The Rangers will begin their offseason in Vancouver against former coach John Tortorella.

-I’m already looking forward to this match-up. Former coach v.s. former coach. John Tortorella v.s. Alain Vigneault. Now, granted, preseason games are just tune-ups for the regular season, this will still be a good game to see. I’m keeping my eye on this one.

  • Yesterday, the Chicago Blackhawks shipped gritty forward Daniel Carcillo to the LA Kings in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

-In my opinion, this is a great trade for the Kings. They are getting good depth and grit in Carcillo. He will look out for other teammates, and he will drop the gloves if need be. And they only had to give up a sixth-round pick.
