As the slow days of August drag on across the National Hockey League, it is extremely hard to find any bit of news relating to hockey. But, at Blue Line Station that is a different story. We are the best source for up to the minute updates and news about the game that you hold so close to your heart. So, let’s get to it.
The Columbus Blue Jackets announced yesterday that they have hired former prominent NHL agent Bill Zito as their assistant general manager. Zito is the founder and former president of Acme World Sports, LLC. He had represented players since 1995. Some of his most known clients were Tim Thomas, Brian Rafalski, Kimmo Timonen, and Antti Niemi to name a few. This is good work by the Blue Jackets front office because Zito will bring veteran experience to their organization. Especially if they want to start up a playoff run, this is a smart hiring.
The defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks also announced yesterday that they have named Steve Weeks as the team’s goaltending coach. Weeks has more than 25 years of NHL experience as a player and will bring tons of leadership to a high-caliber organization. Maybe he will be able to help out Corey Crawford with his glove side.
