If you like to play Playstation or Xbox, then today is your lucky day. The NHL 14 demo has dropped on the Xbox Live marketplace, but many users such as myself are still awaiting the release on Ps3. This is the chance to get your hockey fix until October. The full game hits shelves on September 10th. Anyway, let’s get to some news.
A nice story coming out of the weekend, Philadelphia Flyers development coach Ian Laperriere finished his first Ironman competition by completing the Ironman North American Championship at Mont-Tremblant (Quebec) in 12 hours, 11 minutes, 55 seconds. He finished 124th out of the 258 finishers in the men’s 35-39 division. The 39 year old coach recovered from a fall two weeks ago during training that left him with what felt like a recurrence of the same concussion symptoms that ended his 16 season NHL career. Laperriere had trained for six months to get ready for this competition.
Teemu Selanne is inching closer towards making a decision on whether or not he will come back for another NHL season with the Anaheim Ducks. The 43 year old winger stated that if he decides to return, it would have to be in a top six role. He registered 12 goals and 12 assists in 46 games last season. “My point is, if they’re better than I am, I am expecting and accepting a smaller role,” Selanne said. “But if I’m better, I need to play more. I need to play top minutes. That’s what I’m looking for.”

I’ve already had to forgive this franchise of letting my favorite player go (Leetch) and I’m still not really over THAT. Do right. #NYR
