Well, this is the Teemu Selanne edition, because he announced yesterday, via a very funny, and clever YouTube video, that he was returning to the Ducks for his final go around. The deal he signed is a reported year deal worth $2 million.

Selanne, who besides the ducks, has played for the Jets, Avalanche, and Sharks has amassed 1430 points in his 23 season NHL career, which he has scored 675 goals, and assisted on 755 of them. Selanne, a sure first ballot hall of famer when his career ends will always be known to many as “The Finnish Rocket” for his speed, and for his straight forward goal first attitude. Selanne will retire when the season ends right before his 44 birthday.

And yes, that famous number 8, will be retired by the Ducks, I guarantee it.

Some facts about Teemu:

  • Most goals scored by a rookie (76) – 1992-93
  • Calder Memorial Trophy (NHLs Top Rookie) – 1992-93
  • 3 Time 50 Goal Scorer – 1992-93, 1996-97, 1997-98
  • 3 Time 100 Point Scorer –  1992-93, 1996-97, 1998-99
  • 10 All Star Games
  • “Rocket” Richard Trophy (NHLs top goal scorer) – 1998-99
  • Bill Masterdon Trophy (Perseverance and Dedication to the game) – 2005-06
  • 2007 Stanley Cup Champion
  • All-Time Leader for points in the Olympics – 37
