Some quick news and notes around the NHL…
With Traverse City day two in the books, and another heartbreaking Rangers loss, 6-5 at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres group of prospects there are some things that we can be happy about. Danny Kristo and Oscar Lindberg are obviously the bright spots for the group on offense, as Kristo’s goal during yesterdays game finally gave him his first as a Ranger, yet Lindberg has been the most impressive. 4 goals through two games, including a hat trick yesterday makes it seem likely that we might see him as a fill in during the time period when Callahan and Hagelin are out due to injuries. Don’t be surprised about Kristo as well. At the conclusion of the tournament, Blue Line Station will recap the highs and the lows, and the expectations of the youngsters heading into training camp, which is only 4 days away.
Much praise is going around the NYR twitter-sphere about the comments by coach Alain Vigneault about at the end of the day, its all on the players to push one another, and he’s letting them know that they’re getting a clean slate, a new way to prove themselves again, and a new way to really shine as players in the organization. All and all his telling interview with Blueshirts United Jim Cerny was very pleasing, and we’ll share it with you below for your viewing pleasure.
Also, please remember while we’re four days away from training camp, we’re also 9 days away from the Rangers first preseason tilt against the New Jersey Devils. All games will be broadcasted on MSG, and they will all be away from Madison Square Garden as the last part of the transformation is getting completed right before their first regular season game at home against the Habs on October 28. Skates are getting sharpened, and sticks are slowly beginning to get taped. Time to get excited.
