Two For Roughing is here to save the day and tell Ranger fans that this team is not in jeopardy after going 1-4 in the preseason. Due to the recent losses to the Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings, social media has been thrown into a frenzy.
Let me just reassure everyone by saying that the Regular Season hasn’t even started yet and fans are already going crazy. One of the main talking points has been the play of Vezina-winning goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. He hasn’t looked too sharp this preseason but what did the fanbase expect? The team has had almost three months off from Hockey, plus they have to adapt to the new coaching style of Alain Vigneault.
It seems that Vigneault’s camp was focused on evaluation and not preparation, which is the explanation for the 4 losses that New York suffered. The sky is not falling. The Rangers will be fine, and they will still finish top 3 in the division and make the playoffs, so there is absolutely no need to panic. Now that’s out of the way, let’s take a look at some quick hits across the league:
- The latest news from today, the New Jersey Devils have traded forward Krystofer Barch and a 2015 seventh-round pick to the Florida Panthers for forward Scott Timmins and a 2014 sixth-round pick.
- The Vancouver Canucks have survived the grueling start to Camp Tortorella, which the Rangers went through the past few seasons, and it isn’t pretty.
- There is still no timetable for the return of Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tomas Vokoun.
- Tim Thomas has signed a one-year contract with the Florida Panthers, and his NHL career has now been reborn.

#NYR fans. We gotta accept it’s going to take some time for the new system to take shape. Stop measuring preseason as tell tale sign. Stop.
