Opening night is drawing ever so closer, and the excitement can’t be contained much longer. Hockey fans have been waiting a long couple of months for this moment and it will all come to fruition when the puck drops tomorrow night to signal the beginning of the 2013-14 regular season. This has been stated many times in the past, but the New York Rangers will open up against the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night. The game will air at 10 pm on MSG. Don’t be late!
Expect a good season out of the Rangers this year, with the hiring of Alain Vigneault, and the additions of some depth forwards, they will yet again be a force to be reckoned with in this league.
Now, let’s take a look at some quick hits occurring throughout the NHL:
- Montreal Canadiens defenseman Douglas Murray will miss four to six weeks with an upper-body injury sustained at a team practice on Sunday.
- The Detroit Red Wings have sent forward Gustav Nyquist to the AHL.
- The Chicago Blackhawks are confident that they can repeat in 2013-14, and they have every right to be.
- The Washington Capitals have traded center Mathieu Perreault to the Anaheim Ducks for forward John Mitchell and a 2014 fourth-round pick.
It wasn’t the best showing, but I had a blast at the #NYR game in Vegas the other night. MGM Grand is kind of the worst arena ever, though.

I think playing a slower richards on wing is a smart move by #NYR only chance this guy has is to move away from center responsibilities.
